Line-up Announced For Electric Picnic’s ArtLot Area

Once upon a time, ArtLot, a derelict site located on a small corner of Dublin City, held its own as an open-air public exhibition space, inspiring and amusing passersby with its monthly programme of visual art and performance. When the hotel developers moved in, ArtLot was rescued by Electric Picnic, establishing itself in the woods of Stradbally Hall, where the artist-led area has become known as the festival's cultural quarter.
A champion of emerging Irish talent, the ArtLots intimate forest stage is the perfect place to experience some of Ireland’s top young bands. This year’s ArtLot lineup includes performances across the weekend from Calum Agnew, Madra Salach, The Donnys, The Wu, Peter Richardson, Cameron Allan Band, City Pets, The Labourers, Tadhg Williams and Empty Internet as well as performances from spoken word poets Phil Kenny and Vagabond Queen.
ArtLot's after dark programme will feature a UV paint party with Granny’s Gaff resident Sharpson, as well as a stacked lineup of DJs across the weekend including Jamie Ennis, Bob Manzanilla, Budly, Floody, Tribal Chieftains, Kipunji, Mills, AdzyOB, Nocturnal, BANYAH, Jordo Byrne, and CNC.
The Sunday night at Artlot promises to be a festival closing party to remember with the legendary King Kong Company taking to the decks from midnight followed by the techno performance freaks RATHAUS playing out until 4am.
Art Installations, Painting & Workshops
ArtLot is home to beloved festival art installations including Granny’s House, the immersive installation that transports visitors back to your nanny’s gaff circa 1985. Described by the Irish Times as “a sanctuary for those looking to escape the madness”, the interactive installation is decorated head to toe in retro kitsch. Hang out with the Beat poets at Amy’s Wine House, the derelict chill-out space that pays homage to fallen icons or check out the Snug PhotoBooth, the immersive snug installation that will print your not-so-safe-for-work festival portraits.
ArtLot is a celebration of creativity, with festival-goers able to enjoy artworks by renowned mural painter Kevin Bohan, flying JellyFish (that's Jelly not Jerry) installations by Limerick-based textile artist Rachel Maloney, and colourful flower installations by Patrick Blue. Elsewhere, Groove & Palette, the artist team led by Aleksandra Golanska, will be providing free painting classes throughout the weekend, and Tonik Studios will be offering craft and print workshops.
New Venue Seomra Boil
In addition to ArtLot's main stage, organisers’ have announced details of a new micro dance venue, Seomra Boil. Housed in an abandoned shipping container, Seomra Boil is a celebration of Irish club culture. The new intimate venue is curated by DiscoBox Collective and will host late-night DJ sets throughout the weekend, including Ailbhe Ní Riain & Cairbre (B2B), SHV, Aaron, Paulo, Manwelli, DJ Jessica Maciel, and SB. Be warned there will be flashing lights!
Curated by John Kenny and Alan Mulhall of the Dublin-based arts collective The Glow Depot, with music programmed by Fluttertone, the ArtLot is proudly supported by Electric Picnic.
