“I know who shot Tupac and Biggie”
Netflix fans are in for a treat as top LAPD cop is on route to Dublin
Press Release: Top LAPD Investigator on Route to Dublin
On Thursday October 11 the lead investigator behind the music industry’s most infamous unsolved crime will be hosting a very special event in Dublin’s Vicar Street. Top Los Angeles police detective Greg Kading was the lead investigator into the murder case of rap music icons Tupac Shakur and Biggie Smalls.
Kading is the executive producer of the current Netflix series Unsolved: The Murders of Tupac and the Notorious B.I.G. and is portrayed in the show by actor Josh Duhamel. Fans of the Netflix drama will have a chance to hear a firsthand account of the investigation and pitch questions to the lead investigator in the case.
Nearly a decade after the 1996 murders of Tupac Shakur and Christopher Wallace, aka Biggie Smalls, the cold case was reopened after Biggie Smalls’ mother, Voletta Wallace, sued the department in federal court for wrongful death.
LAPD detective Kading was tasked with solving the case and disproving the theory behind the lawsuit. The new evidence uncovered by Kading was groundbreaking. However, it has been suggested that once his team found enough evidence to exonerate the LAPD, the re-investigation of the murders was essentially dropped by Kading's superiors.
Although his task force was shut down Kading went on to self-publish the new evidence in his book “Murder Rap”. His shocking findings have become the basis for the Netflix crime drama. The forthcoming event in Vicar Street will be a chance for both music and crime fans to explore a tragic piece of recent music history.
“Solved - the Tupac & Biggie Murders” will take place on Thursday October 11 at 8pm in Dubin’s Vicar Street. Tickets are priced at €28.50 (including booking fee) and are available from Ticketmaster.
